Built in 1826 by Randal McGavock, former mayor of Nashville, Carnton Plantation features a neoclassical antebellum mansion with a Greek Revival portico. The restored interior houses many McGavock family pieces and period furnishings, while the grounds boast a restored 1847 garden and the McGavock Confederate cemetery. It lies across the street from the Country Club of Franklin.
